There are many ideas and visions. I have a few, too.
From time to time, one of them takes hold of me and I try to develop it. But mostly, they just accompany me. Like house cats. They only need you occasionally.

A few days ago, a good friend — thank you, Rahel — drew my attention to a conversation with Bea Knecht. I could actually have come across it myself — after all, as a CH++ board member, Bea is committed to „a modern understanding of the state, citizens, business and science“.
More about CH++
Switzerland is facing major new challenges. More than ever before, our age is characterized by increasingly rapid technological and scientific developments. Digitalization in particular is affecting all aspects of our daily lives.
As a non-profit organization, CH++ strengthens the scientific and technological competencies of politics, authorities and civil society.
We are engaged in the promotion, understanding, and effective and efficient use of science and technology. They are essential and fundamental for a healthy economy, our prosperity and the common good – and for an agile, efficient and thus sovereign state.

But I’ve just moved house with the family and have lots of other things to do — you know the drill. In any case, at one point in her conversation with Donat Hofer, I felt particularly addressed by Bea:
There is a big gap between vision and realisation. In between, there is a person I call the ‚Accomplisher‘. […] This person takes the vision, breaks it down into feasible steps, triggers these steps, brings people together, and tests where the vision meets reality. This is never pleasant, but it is an essential process. […] It is where value is created.
Bea Knecht, on SRF Focus from 16/06/2025 from 33:23 (original in German; translated by me)
When I think about what I’ve been doing over the last few years, Bea’s description applies pretty well to my work and endeavours.
Thank you, Bea, for this clarity! Thank you also to Donat Hofer for coming up with the successful German translation of Bea’s term: ‚Umsetzer‘.
PS: Completely pointless, but I find it funny — Donat was born in ’87, Bea in ’67 and I’m in between at ’77. More about the “seven” in Wikipedia.
